- Testing is performed outside the body as an aid for monitoring the effectiveness of diabetes control; auto-coding for quick and accurate testing
- Draw blood from finger, palm or forearm; keep test strips in original vial with cap tightly sealed; never transfer strips from one vial to another, and never reuse strips
